An open letter from HitVocals
Championing human artists, and advocating for integrity in music production.
At HitVocals, our mission has always been clear: to deliver the highest quality vocals on the market while providing support to human artists.
Many of these talented individuals have devoted their lives to their craft, relying on it not only as a means of creative expression but also as a livelihood for themselves and their families. In light of the increasing competition posed by AI, it is important that we recognise and amplify the contributions of these dedicated artists.
The rise of AI-generated content has sparked many moral discussions. While AI may offer convenience and efficiency, it is important to acknowledge that its foundation is built upon the creativity and effort of human artists. This is something we believe requires deep consideration from anyone who cares about music, the music industry and our fellow humans.
Without the tireless work of human artists, the very existence of AI in music production would not be possible.
These are the reasons we keep returning to, and the reasons the producers, labels and DJs we work with keep choosing a real human performance.
Standing out is already hard enough. Listeners are getting quicker at spotting AI slop, and there is more of it every week. A distinctive human vocal is often the one thing that lifts a track above the tide, and gets both the record and the producer noticed.
This is not only about doing the right thing. There are solid, everyday reasons to put a real voice on your record, and real problems that come from leaning too hard on a machine.
Our artists have sung on records with Tiësto, Vintage Culture, Alok and Armin. When you work with one of them, you get more than a vocal file.
Our singers come with real followings and real relationships across labels, publishers and management. Those doors can open for your record too.
Human artists travel for gigs, festivals and events, and they do TV and radio. That connection with an audience is something an AI voice will never give you.
AI vocals can pass, but they usually miss the depth and emotion a real performance carries. On a record, people hear that difference even if they cannot name it.
This is not a warning about the future. It is already happening. Spotify has removed hundreds of thousands of AI-generated tracks, Deezer now flags and filters them, and Traxsource, Bandcamp and others have published their own positions on AI music. The legal side is still unsettled, and the platforms are clearly not waiting for it to be.
When anyone can knock out a passable vocal in seconds, the market fills up fast. Getting heard above that gets harder every month.
Leaning too hard on AI carries a real reputational risk, much like the stigma around DJs who use ghost producers.
Nobody has settled what rights an AI-generated vocal carries. That uncertainty lands on the artist and the label, sometimes years later.
These are uncertain and somewhat worrying times for creators, and we firmly believe in the ongoing demand for genuine human artists. AI can be a wonderful and helpful tool to support human expression, but it should never dictate or replace it.
Human authenticity must remain the cornerstone of creative integrity. Without it, music becomes sterile and soulless, and the world a lesser place because of it.
HitVocals encourages all music lovers to join us in championing and supporting real human artists. Together, let us ensure that music never loses its magic, and that the rich spectrum of human experience continues to drive artistic expression for generations to come.
support@hitvocals.co.ukAI Vocals on HitVocals?
HitVocals is committed to placing humans at the forefront. We welcome AI as a supportive tool that helps an artist refine their own work, and we do not accept submissions that lean on it as a replacement for performance.
Our primary concern is ensuring that humans perform the majority of the creative work. If you use AI to sketch out a song or demo, we can accept these submissions with the intention of having them re-recorded by live performers, and if we find a demo strong enough we are happy to help with that re-recording.
AI should be a helpful resource, never a replacement for human talent.
