Getting Paid for Your Vocals: A Guide to Wise for HitVocals Artists
Your earnings, wherever you are
How to set up Wise and get your vocal earnings paid to you, wherever you live…
When you sell vocals through HitVocals, we want getting paid to be just as straightforward as selling them. We use Wise to send artist payments securely to vocalists around the world.
We appreciate working with you and want to ensure you get paid quickly and securely. Wise (formerly TransferWise) is an international money transfer service, and it is how your vocal earnings reach you wherever you happen to live.
For Vocalists Selling Through HitVocals
HitVocals is built around professional human vocals, connecting vocalists with producers, DJs, managers and labels looking for vocals for their music. If you are already selling vocals through HitVocals, this guide explains how to make sure your payment details are ready for when you want to withdraw your earnings.
If you are new to the platform, our Selling Your Vocals guide explains how selling works, from listing your work through to receiving your earnings. Every voice on HitVocals belongs to a real person - we never accept fully AI-generated vocals, and our open letter on human artists sets out why.
How HitVocals Artist Payments Work
When you make a vocal sale through HitVocals, your earnings become available for withdrawal according to the terms of your sale and the applicable payment arrangements. When you are ready to withdraw, we process the payment through Wise. This lets us pay artists internationally without everyone needing the same bank or the same currency.
- You sell a vocal. A producer, DJ or label licenses one of your toplines, hooks or acapellas, and the sale completes on the platform.
- Your earnings build up in your account. Your share of each sale sits in your HitVocals balance until you decide to take it out.
- You request a withdrawal. When you are ready, you ask us to send your vocal earnings to your Wise account.
- We review it by hand. Every artist payout is checked manually for accuracy and security before it goes out, which is what the 12-hour window covers.
- The payment lands in Wise. Once approved, we aim to have your payment in your Wise account within 12 hours.
- You take it from there. Hold the balance in Wise, convert it to another currency, or transfer it straight to your own bank account.
What Is Wise?
Wise is a financial technology company that offers international money transfers with low fees and fair exchange rates. You see the fee and the rate before you confirm anything. Payments arrive directly into your bank account wherever you are in the world, which is why we use it to pay artists in dozens of countries.
Why We Pay Artists Through Wise
- Low fees. Transfer fees are low, and Wise shows you the amount before you confirm, so nothing is taken that you have not already seen.
- Fair exchange rates. You get the real exchange rate without hidden markups, so a payout is not quietly shaved on the way to you.
- Speed. We aim to have your payment in your Wise account within 12 hours. How quickly it then reaches your own bank depends on your currency, the payment method and whether your account is fully verified.
- Security. Regulated by the financial authorities in the countries where it operates.
Get your account ready
Set your Wise account up before your first withdrawal rather than after it - verification is the step that takes the longest, and getting it out of the way means your first payout is not waiting on paperwork. Register at wise.com. It is free to open.
Common Questions About Getting Paid
The questions artists ask us most often about withdrawing vocal earnings and setting Wise up.
How do I receive my HitVocals earnings?
Your earnings from vocal sales build up in your HitVocals account. When you want to be paid, request a withdrawal and we will send it to your Wise account. You will need that account set up and verified before your first payout, so it is worth doing early.
How do I set up a Wise account?
Go to wise.com and register by filling in your details and verifying your identity. Then choose the currency you would prefer to receive your vocal earnings in.
Is there a fee to set up a Wise account?
No, opening a personal Wise account is free. Fees apply to transfers and currency conversions rather than to holding the account, and you see them before you confirm anything.
How long does it take to set up a Wise account?
Registering takes a few minutes. Verifying your identity can take longer depending on the documents you provide and where you live, but it is a straightforward step and it only has to be done once.
How long does money take to reach me?
Once your withdrawal has been approved by HitVocals, we aim to send your payment to your Wise account within 12 hours. We review every artist payout manually to make sure it is accurate and secure, which is what that window covers. How quickly the money then moves from Wise into your own bank account depends on your currency and your bank.
Can I receive HitVocals payments outside the UK?
Yes. Paying artists internationally is the whole reason we use Wise. Our vocalists are spread across dozens of countries, and you do not need a UK bank account to sell vocals on HitVocals or to be paid for them.
What currency will my HitVocals payment be sent in?
Vocal prices on HitVocals are set in euros, so that is the currency your earnings are shown in. You can hold that balance as it is, or convert it to your local currency at the real exchange rate. You choose your preferred currency when you set your Wise account up, and you can change it later.
Can I transfer my Wise balance to my normal bank account?
Yes. Your money does not have to stay there. You can hold your vocal earnings, convert them, or send them straight on to your usual bank account whenever you like. Plenty of artists move each payout out immediately, and plenty leave a balance sitting there. Both are fine.
What happens if my HitVocals payment hasn’t arrived?
First check that your Wise account is fully verified and that the details on it match the name on your HitVocals account, as a mismatch is the most common cause of a delay. If everything looks right and the payment is still missing, email us at support@hitvocals.co.uk with the date you requested the withdrawal and we will trace it for you.
Thank you
